This section of Broad River in Rutherford County is 7.4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The wonderful Rutherford County scenery and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. There's camping available near Broad River. This stretch has has     enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Lake Lure Dam to Route 1181 stretch is one of them.
