The natural beauty of Rutherford County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Lake Lure Dam to Route 1181 section is one of them.     Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This section of Broad River is 7.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Briefly about the general area: Broad River is a wet   place that gets a great deal of precipitation; during the month of May you get the most rain around here; December is when it's the driest. For the period of the summer highs here at Broad River get into the 80's, and the overnight is a tad colder of course, frequently in the 60's. Highs through the winter are generally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Broad River are in the 20's.
