The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Forest City, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking     around here you'll find a large number of good places. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The wonderful Rutherford County scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Broad River. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 40's; overnight lows in the 20's for Broad River.   The high level of rainfall makes Broad River a reasonably wet spot; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain, and December is when it's the driest.
