If you're coming from Sanford it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Buckhorn Creek in Chatham County is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I(II) section of whitewater. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the beautiful way the water
current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is the only paddling section along Buckhorn Creek.
