The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Forest City, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations
you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The scenic beauty of McDowell/Burke County and the beautiful way the water
current moves down the stream have people coming here. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
