This stretch of Catawba River - North Fork in North Carolina is 5.6 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The put-in is not too far from Forest City, please print out a copy of the road map further down the
page so you won’t get lost. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Catawba River - North Fork make the trip here worthwhile. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
