CLASS III+(V+) 2 miles
The put-in is not too far from Seneca, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Clear Creek in North Carolina is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+(V+) section. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Clear Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Off Highway
28 Into Overflow Creek section is the only one. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. The beautiful scenery of Macon/Rabun
County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Wheel Branch Gap is a delightful spot to explore close by, and do take a hike on the Three Forks Trail. Much rainfall falls at Clear Creek; during the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months
is July. For the duration of the warm months, highs generally are in the 80's at Clear Creek. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are mostly in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Clear Creek.
