The scenic beauty of Haywood County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The to Harmen Den section of Cold Springs Creek in Haywood County is 2.5 miles long and is a class IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater paddling
here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This is the only paddling stretch along Cold Springs Creek. If you're coming from Newport it's not a long drive at all to the
put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
