The Trailhead to National Forest French Broad section of Courthouse Creek is 3 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V+ section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Transylvania County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Great exercise and
just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Courthouse Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Trailhead to National Forest French Broad stretch is the only one. The campgrounds here at Courthouse Creek are pretty good. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The starting location is a short drive from Brevard, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.

The high level of rain makes Courthouse Creek a quite wet place; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain; the driest month is October. So many amusing things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains, not enough time. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Courthouse
Creek; Art Loeb Trail is a perfect local trail. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Courthouse Falls, and close by Summey Cove is a magnificent place to go. Summer at Courthouse Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 60's. During the winter highs are frequently in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Courthouse Creek.
