The starting location is a reasonable drive from Asheville, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Cove Creek in North Carolina is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V(V+) section. There are no other stretches to paddle along Cove Creek than the to Green River stretch. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these
hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Since you're
on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summer at Cove Creek highs are frequently in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. High temperatures all through the wintertime
are normally in the 40's, and overnight lows at Cove Creek throughout the wintertime commonly plunge into the 20's. Don't leave Cove Creek without first paying a visit to Bradley Falls. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cove Creek a wet spot; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest.
