Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina are easier than the national norm, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The natural beauty of North Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. The starting point is not too far from Seneca, as you can see on the road map further down. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The Ravenel Lake to Mirror Lake section of Cullasaja
River is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III+(V+) section. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or
kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: Through the summertime months at Cullasaja River temperatures are generally in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in
the 20's to Cullasaja River. Having a splendid time in the Blue Ridge Mountains is easy. On a good day at Cullasaja River you can take a hike along the Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail, and you need to have a look at Sunset Rock if you're here. All the water falling
down from the sky makes Cullasaja River a wet spot; March is the month that gets the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. A short tour to Highlands Falls is always worthwhile, and Wildcat Gap is also a splendid site to discover. This river has so much to
offer. If the weather is glorious here at Cullasaja River, you can go for a hike along the Shortoff Mountain Trail, and a cool spot to go to is Wildcat Cliffs.
