The starting point is not too far from Seneca, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of North Carolina and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This section of Cullasaja River is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III+(V+) section
of whitewater. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. This stretch is mid length, you can
easily run it on an afternoon. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There's camping available near Cullasaja River.
Briefly about the general area: Wildcat Cliffs is an exciting location to pop by while at Cullasaja River; a splendid place to stop by is Wildcat Gap. Cullasaja River is a wet site that gets a lot of rainfall;
through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and October meanwhile is the driest month. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Don't leave Cullasaja River without first checking out Sunset Rock, and Cullasaja River is right by
the Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer. It's always splendid to stop by Highlands Falls, and the Shortoff Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. For the duration of the months of summer at Cullasaja River temperatures
are frequently in the 80's; the overnight is fairly colder of course, commonly in the 60's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Cullasaja River are in the 20's.
