The Below Cosmic Crunch to Above Cullasaja Falls stretch of Cullasaja River in Macon County is 2.5 miles long and is a class IV(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The put-in location is a short drive from Seneca, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The scenic beauty of North Carolina and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile.
The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. The Below Cosmic Crunch to Above Cullasaja Falls section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
