This stretch of Cullasaja River in Macon County is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. The wonderful Macon County scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that     a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Cullasaja River a wet location; March is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. You absolutely   have to like the Blue Ridge Mountains. High temperatures at Cullasaja River during the days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Cullasaja River descend into the 20's. California Gap is a great location to have a look at nearby, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Cullasaja Falls.
