This stretch of Curtis Creek in North Carolina is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV+ section of whitewater. There's camping available near Curtis Creek. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Curtis Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Close to Old Fort stretch is the only one. The scenic
beauty of McDowell County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
