This stretch of Davidson River in Transylvania County is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The wonderful Transylvania County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Davidson River will make you feel great. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up
quick. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. If you're coming from Brevard it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down
the page. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy.

on the Black Mountain Trail is always a great adventure. Davidson River is a wet location that gets a good deal of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain; October is when it's the driest. Neil Gap is a brilliant site to explore, and a tour to Looking Glass Falls will
fill your spirit with pleasant feelings. For the duration of the warm days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Davidson River. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are usually in the 40's; nighttime lows in the 20's for Davidson River.
