The natural beauty of Transylvania County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside North Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There
    are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. The FS Road 475 to Sycamore Flats section of Davidson River in North Carolina is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater
as a class I-II section. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the FS Road 475 to Sycamore Flats section is one of them. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great.

For the period of the months of summer at Davidson River highs are generally in the 80's.
 
When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Davidson River. So many exciting things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains, not enough time. You might want to pay a visit to Neil Gap if you're here at Davidson River, and nearby you hit upon the Black Mountain Trail which is a good hiking trail.
This river is a great place to visit. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Looking Glass Falls, and going for a hike on the Buck Spring Trail is always a great adventure. All the water falling down from the sky makes Davidson River a wet place; the month with most of the rain is March, and October meanwhile is the driest month.
