  The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The put-in is not too far from Sanford, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This section of Deep River in Chatham County is 7 miles
    long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is a pretty decent length section, it's
good length for a morning trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
All the water falling down from the sky makes Deep River a wet place; through the month of May you get the most rain around here; the driest month is September. For the duration of the warm days of summer highs here at Deep River reach the 80's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 40's; through the dark hours in the winter at Deep River temperatures dip to the 20's.
