The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you're coming from Sevierville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for     more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This is the only paddling section along Deep Creek. The river winds through the Great Smoky Mountains and you get great scenery. This section of Deep Creek is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: Deep Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; throughout March this area sees the most rain; October is when it's the driest. High temperatures   at Deep Creek all through the summer are in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows during the winter for Deep Creek tend to be in the 20's.
