Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming     from far and near. The Route 1726 Bridge to Route 1529 Bridge section of First Broad is 15 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. There are no other sections to paddle along First Broad than the Route 1726 Bridge to Route 1529 Bridge section. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The nature scenery of North Carolina and the water flowing gracefully down First Broad are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from   the sky makes First Broad a wet location; May is when you get the most rain here, and January meanwhile is the driest month. All through the summer highs here at First Broad reach the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 60's. For the period of the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to First Broad.
