This stretch of French Broad River - East Fork in Transylvania County is 5.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is     a great experience. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the East Fork Road at Laurel Branch to French Broad River section is one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The campgrounds here at French Broad River - East Fork are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.
