The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This section of Green River in North Carolina is 2.9 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Getting some good exercise and     a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Hungry Creek to Green River Cove Road stretch is just one of many. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The natural beauty of Henderson/ Polk County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Green River. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the   40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Green River. The Narrows is a great place to pop by nearby. A great deal of precipitation falls at Green River; the month with most of the rain is March while January is regularly the driest month.
