Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This is an extremely short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.     If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The put-in is not too far from Asheville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section of Green River is 1.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Briefly about the general area: Green River is a reasonably wet place mostly with a good deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is usually August, that's the one   that rains the most while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation. For the duration of the warm days of summer highs here at Green River get into the 80's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Green River temperatures descend to the 20's.
