  The natural beauty of North Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Durham, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Bynum to Highway 64 section of Haw River is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as
    well. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large
number of good places. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
All through the summer months at Haw River temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, typically in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Haw River dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. Haw River usually gets much rainfall; through May this area sees the most rain, and September is when it's the driest.
