If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside North Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. If you're coming from Durham it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Chatham County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. coming back for more. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Highway 64 to Jordan Reservoir section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these
hotels fill up quick. This section of Haw River in Chatham County is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. This is a very short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that.

are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Haw River. Haw River usually gets much rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and September is the month with the least moisture.
