  The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. If you're coming from Durham it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with
    more info on that. This is a very short stretch so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section of Haw River in
North Carolina is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

brings highs in the 80's to Haw River, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Haw River temperatures sink to the 20's.
