Chatham
county,
Highway 64 to Jordan Reservoir section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 1 miles
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside North Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This section of Haw River is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Chatham County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want
to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and
some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The starting location is a short drive from Durham, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too.
