The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are very easy. The natural beauty of Haywood County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Hurricane Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the SR 1336 to Pigeon River section is the only
one. The beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains is a great plus for this river. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because
these hotels fill up quick. The put-in is not too far from Newport, as you can see on the road map further down. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
Briefly about the general area: Since you're here at Hurricane Creek why not visit Rathbone Cove; hiking is a popular thing to do around Hurricane Creek; Asbury Trail is a splendid local trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Hurricane Creek a wet place; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain
while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Having a splendid time in the Great Smoky Mountains is easy. For the duration of the months of summer here at Hurricane Creek, high temperatures generally reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down
to the 60's. Highs all through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's; night lows at Hurricane Creek throughout the wintertime typically plunge into the 20's.
