The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. If you're coming from Newport it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an
afternoon trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are no other stretches to paddle along Hurricane Creek than the SR 1336 to Pigeon River stretch. Whitewater paddling here in the Great Smoky Mountains is a great experience. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here.
