The Route 1384 to Route 1338 section of Jonathans Creek is 8.8 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of North Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling section along Jonathans Creek. |

On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the
| sections here are pretty easy. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: For the period of the warm months at Jonathans Creek temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are usually in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Jonathans Creek. Jonathans Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; May is the month that gets the most rain while December is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
