Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The nature scenery of North Carolina and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is the only paddling section along Linville River. The starting location is a short drive from Boone, if you're
not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Linville Falls to Lake James section of Linville River is 16.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V+ section of whitewater. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time
outdoors will make you glad you came. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Linville River plunge into the 10's.
