North Carolina whitewater - Little River, Blue Ridge Mountains, Transylvania County Transylvania county, Base of Triple Falls to Hooker Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     1 miles   This section of Little River is 1 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The beautiful scenery of Transylvania County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night,     but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Little River are pretty good. If you're coming from Brevard it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is an extremely short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the months of summer at Little River highs are generally   in the 80's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 50's. During the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Little River are in the 20's. But wait, there's more entertaining stuff to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Little River is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is October. Triple Falls is an inspiring place to pop by while here, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Hooker Falls.
