The starting location is a reasonable drive from Boone, as you can see on the road map further down. The Main section is the only paddling section along Lost Cove Creek. The campgrounds here at Lost Cove Creek are pretty good. The scenic beauty of North Carolina and the water flowing gracefully down Lost Cove Creek attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state
are often easier than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. On
this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.
Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes Lost Cove Creek a wet location; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is December. Through the summertime at Lost Cove Creek highs are generally in the 70's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs through the
