The natural beauty of Macon County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of Middle Creek in Macon County is 0.3 miles long and is a class III-IV(V+) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is an extremely short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you've
been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll
find a large number of good rivers. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The North Carolina 106 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Middle Creek.
