This section of Nantahala River is 0.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V section of whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The river winds through the Great Smoky Mountains     and you get great scenery. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
