If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside North Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good     workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The nature scenery of Macon/Clay County and the water flowing gracefully down Nantahala River attract people from near and far. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Highway 64 to Nantahala Lake section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Having a magnificent time in the Blue Ridge Mountains is simple. The Rufus Morgan Trail offers hiking at its best. Nantahala River commonly gets lots of rain; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain; October on the other hand is the driest. Hiking   is a popular thing to do around Nantahala River; Thorn Mountain Trail is a wonderful local trail, and if you're here, you might as well pop by Big Oak Gap. Throughout the summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Nantahala River with night lows in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Nantahala River.
