The Highway 64 to Nantahala Lake stretch of Nantahala River is 12.74 miles long and is a class I-II+(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside North Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. A good
workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. The nature scenery of Macon/Clay County
and the water flowing gracefully down Nantahala River attract people from near and far. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Highway 64 to Nantahala Lake section is one of many paddling sections in this river system.

Throughout the summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Nantahala River with night lows in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Nantahala River.
