The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the cool fresh water beats anything. The Stuart Dam to US 221/21 stretch of New River in North Carolina is 11 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The starting location is a short drive from North Wilkesboro, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often
