The Wilson Creek Tributary stretch of North Harper Creek in North Carolina is 9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are
sure to keep you coming back for more. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
The Wilson Creek Tributary stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The campgrounds here at North Harper Creek are pretty good. The starting location is a short drive from Boone, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus.
