Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Pigeon River - Big East Fork in Haywood County is 2.7 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. If you're a camper you can camp
at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Getting your paddling muscles
activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a short drive from Brevard, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The nature scenery of Haywood County and the water flowing gracefully down Pigeon River - Big East Fork attract people from near and far.
