  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Pigeon River - Big East Fork in Haywood County is 2.7 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. If you're a camper you can camp
    at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Getting your paddling muscles
activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a short drive from Brevard, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The nature scenery of Haywood County and the water flowing gracefully down Pigeon River - Big East Fork attract people from near and far.

The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Pigeon River - Big East Fork.
If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Go for a hike on the Buck Spring Trail. Pigeon River - Big East Fork is a quite wet place mostly with a great deal of rain; March is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is October.
