The 3800 foot countour line to US Route 276 Bridge stretch of Pigeon River - Big East Fork is 2.7 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Brevard it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Haywood County and the water flowing gracefully down Pigeon River - Big East Fork have people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Blue Ridge Mountains
scenery is wonderful. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the 3800 foot countour line to US Route 276 Bridge section is just one of many. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna
spend hours on the river in one stretch.
