The natural beauty of Haywood County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Brevard, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Route 1887 Bridge to North Carolina Route 110 Bridge section is just one of them. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll
have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable
for beginners. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This section of Pigeon River - East Fork in North Carolina is 8.7 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Through the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Pigeon River - East
Fork. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Pigeon River - East Fork dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. A great deal of precipitation falls at Pigeon River - East Fork; most of the rain
falls throughout July; the driest month is October. A wonderful place to take a look at close to Pigeon River - East Fork is Burnett Cove.
