The Route 1546 to North Wilkesboro stretch of Reddies River is 10 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside North Carolina you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Reddies River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 1546 to North Wilkesboro
stretch is the only one. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you're coming from North Wilkesboro it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location,
please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The natural beauty of North Carolina and the water flowing gracefully down Reddies River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.

You'll meet a lot of people from North Wilkesboro here. Reddies River sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May while December is generally the driest month. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Reddies River; the night is fairly chillier of course, generally in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are usually in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Reddies River.
