The nature scenery of Chatham County and the cool fresh water beats anything. The starting location is a short drive from Sanford, as you can see on the road map further down. This is     the only paddling stretch along Rocky River. The campgrounds here at Rocky River are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Briefly about the general area: For the period of the summer months highs here at Rocky River get into   the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Rocky River tend to be in the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Rocky River a wet location; during the month of July you get the most rain around here, and November is the month with the least moisture.
