The Route 1440 Bridge to US Route 52 Bridge stretch of Rocky River in Stanly/Union/Anson County is 25 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. There are no other stretches to paddle along Rocky River than the Route 1440 Bridge to US Route 52 Bridge stretch. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.     This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. At Rocky River all through the summertime highs are in the 90's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 60's.
