The starting location is a reasonable drive from Asheville, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This section of Rocky Broad River in Henderson/Buncombe County is 3.6 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a
few others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Lodging is
available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There's camping available near Rocky Broad River. The scenic beauty of North Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience.

to Rocky Broad River, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at Rocky Broad River dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. A journey to The Cascades will fill your soul with magnificent
feelings, and Standing Gap is a delightful place to spend some time. Rocky Broad River regularly gets a large amount of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is usually May, that's the one that rains the most while December is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
