North Carolina whitewater - Rocky Broad River, Blue Ridge Mountains, Henderson/Rutherford County

Henderson/Rutherford county, Along Route 64/74 to Lake Lure at Chimney Rock section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V     3.5 miles

The Rocky Broad River- Class IV-V????  Are you kidding?  Not since I moved here in '85 has there even been much water there!  You can barely even float a boat on it unless it has rained for several days!  My 7yo daughter tubed it last year (at least when she wasn't bumping over the shallow rocks).  Even this year when we've tons on rain, a kayaker would have trouble picking a deep enough line through the shoals. Says Jeff Stilber

The put-in is not too far from Asheville, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking
