This stretch of Rocky Broad River in Henderson/Rutherford County is 3.5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of North Carolina and the water flowing gracefully down Rocky Broad River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Asheville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill
up quick. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking
river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus.

good local attraction, and Haircomb Gap is a good site to spend some time. Throughout the warmest time of the year here at Rocky Broad River, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's; night
lows in the 20's for Rocky Broad River. These mountains rock, just check out all the amusing things to do in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hickorynut Falls is always fun to check out, and Chimney Rock is an attention-grabbing spot to visit while at Rocky Broad River. Rocky Broad River generally gets lots of rainfall; May is the month that gets the most rain, and December on the other hand is the driest.
