There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The scenic beauty of Graham County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Santeetlah River is a wet spot that gets a great deal of precipitation; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while October is frequently the driest month. Don't leave Santeetlah River without first going for a hike along the South Fork Citico Trail, and good hiking is available along the Brush Mountain Trail. You   simply have to fancy the Great Smoky Mountains. For the duration of the warm months highs here at Santeetlah River reach the 80's; the nighttime is fairly chillier of course, regularly in the 60's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while Santeetlah River night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's.
