The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This section of Scotts Creek in North Carolina is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV(V) section. The put-in location is a short drive from Brevard, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Some people prefer whitewater
rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The scenic beauty of Jackson County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great.
If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The Willets-Ochre Hill to Addie section is the only paddling section along Scotts Creek. There's camping available near Scotts Creek. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful.

is Chestnut Gap. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Scotts Creek. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Scotts Creek dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights.
