This stretch of Slickrock Creek is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Knoxville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for
lots of people. The Big Fat Gap to Lake Cheoh stretch is the only paddling stretch along Slickrock Creek. The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in North Carolina are often
easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. When you're paddling down a Great Smoky Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip.
