North Carolina whitewater - Snow Creek, Stokes County Stokes county, Route 1674 Bridge to Route 1695 Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     4.9 miles   This stretch of Snow Creek is 4.9 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The average North Carolina whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. The wonderful Stokes County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Snow Creek have people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are campgrounds quite near     the river where you can camp. Snow Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 1674 Bridge to Route 1695 Bridge stretch is the only one. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Snow Creek sees pretty high levels of rain; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain; January meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at Snow Creek all through the summertime months are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's.
