The Hooper Bald to Junction section of Snowbird Creek is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV+ section of whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The beautiful Great Smoky     Mountains scenery is an added bonus. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Hooper Bald to Junction section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
