for more. The Route 1171 to Hot Springs stretch of Spring Creek in North Carolina is 7 miles long and is a class III-IV(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Spring Creek doesn't have a
lot of paddling sections, the Route 1171 to Hot Springs section is the only one. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. The beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains is a great plus for this river.

Creek temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 60's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Spring Creek. A splendid location in the vicinity of Spring Creek is Taylor Hollow Gap,
and there are delightful places to discover along the Walnut Mountain Trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Spring Creek a wet place; the wettest month of the year is frequently May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is October. Whohoo, so
