The nature scenery of Madison County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Spring Creek in Madison County is 7 miles long and is a class III-IV(V) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Greeneville, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Spring Creek doesn't have a lot of
paddling stretches, the Route 1171 to Hot Springs stretch is the only one. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with
plenty of places for that. The beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains is a great plus for this river. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Hollow Gap. All year is a wonderful time in the Great Smoky Mountains if you love the outdoors. Spring Creek is right by the Walnut Mountain Trail; Stony Spur Cliff is something you shouldn't miss if you're here. High temperatures at Spring Creek throughout the days of summer
are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Spring Creek temperatures descend to the 20's. Spring Creek is a pretty wet place usually with a great deal of precipitation; during May this area sees the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest.
