This stretch of Thunderhole Creek in North Carolina is 3.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III+ section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Caldwell County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. You can
pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The Globe Road to Upton section is the only paddling section along Thunderhole Creek. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery.

during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is December. At Thunderhole Creek during the warm months highs are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Thunderhole Creek drop into the 10's.
