The wonderful North Carolina scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The put-in is not too far from Brevard,     as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy. There's camping available near Toxaway River. Briefly about the general area: Turkeypen Gap is a great location to spend some time at. Throughout the summer here at Toxaway River, high temperatures mostly get into the 70's, and the overnight is rather   cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows at Toxaway River through the winter generally dip into the 20's. Toxaway River sees pretty high levels of rain; March is the wettest month with most rain while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
