You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. This section of Toxaway     River - Upper in North Carolina is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Above Lake Toxaway section is one of them. The campgrounds here at Toxaway River - Upper are pretty good. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus.
