The Above Lake Toxaway section of Toxaway River - Upper in Transylvania County is 2 miles long and is a class IV-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Brevard it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section is quite short so     no need to bring snacks. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Above Lake Toxaway section is one of them. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. The natural beauty of North Carolina and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything.
