The Above Tanasee Creek Reservoir section of Tuckasegee River is 4.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of North Carolina and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The starting location is a short drive from Brevard, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're
not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because
it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come.

Falls; a cool spot to stop at is Devils Elbow. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. A short tour to Schoolhouse Falls is always worthwhile, and while you're here why not have a look at Cold Mountain Gap. Tuckasegee River usually gets a large amount of
rainfall; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. This river is always fun. For the period of the months of summer at Tuckasegee River temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Tuckasegee River.
