The wonderful Jackson County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Tuckasegee River beats anything. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The put-in is not too far from Brevard, as you can see on the road map further down. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you
coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The nearby hotels
are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section of Tuckasegee River in Jackson County is 4.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
Briefly about the general area: No need to travel far to stop at out of the ordinary stuff like Devils Elbow, and a journey to Dismal Falls will fill your soul with magnificent feelings. Tuckasegee River is a quite wet
place regularly with lots of rainfall; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. High temperatures at Tuckasegee River through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to
the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's; overnight lows during the winter for Tuckasegee River tend to be in the 20's. This river is a wonderful place to visit. All year is a magnificent time in the Blue Ridge Mountains if you have a thing about the outdoors.
