This section of Tuckasegee River is 9.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II(III) section of whitewater. The natural beauty of Jackson County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve
in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. There's camping available near Tuckasegee River. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.
