This section of Tuckasegee River in Jackson County is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(III) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in North Carolina is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The     Dillsboro to Route 1392 section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The campgrounds here at Tuckasegee River are pretty good. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The high level of rain makes Tuckasegee River a pretty wet spot; all through the month   of July you get the most rain around here; October is the month with the least moisture.
