  The starting point is not too far from Sevierville, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in North Carolina tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a
    large number of good rivers. The beautiful scenery of Jackson County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but
do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Great Smoky Mountains scenery is wonderful. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Dillsboro to Route 1392 section is just one of many. The Dillsboro to Route 1392 section of Tuckasegee River is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater  
to be a class II(III) section. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
If you're here, you might as well stop at Hazel Hollow; you're sure to come across some cheerful folks from Dillsboro here. So much cool stuff in the Great Smoky Mountains, just extraordinary. Tuckasegee River gets lots of water. For the period of July this area sees the most rain; October is when it's the driest. At Tuckasegee River during the warm months highs are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's.
